Arsenal’s Mari joins Monza on loan
Pablo Mari has joined Serie A side AC Monza on loan for the 2022/23 season.
The 28-year-old initially joined us on loan from Brazilian side Flamengo in January 2020 and made the move permanent in the summer of that year.
He has made 22 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions.
Arteta on more signings: We are going to try
Following Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the opening day of the 2022/23 Premier League season, Mikel Arteta revealed the club is still hoping to make more signings before the transfer window closes.
He told Sky Sports: “We are going to try. We have a few things going on now and if we get them it will be great – but for now, we have to work with the players we have.”
Fulham sign Leno in £8m deal
Fulham have signed goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Arsenal on a three-year contract in a deal worth up to £8m.
The club also has an option to extend the 30-year-old German’s stay by a further 12 months.
Leno was Fulham’s number one target although the Championship winners did look at Barcelona’s Neto and Manchester United’s Dean Henderson among others.
The Cottagers will pay £3m up front, £1m depending on appearances, £2m if they avoid relegation and a further £2m if they survive the following year.
Tavares joins Marseille on loan
Arsenal have announced that left-back Nuno Tavares has joined Marseille on a season-long loan.
The left-back joined the Gunners from Benfica last summer and made 28 appearances last term.
Mikel Arteta signed Oleksandr Zinchenko to compete with Kieran Tierney at left-back this summer.
Arteta’s Arsenal clear-out gathering pace
Mikel Arteta’s clearout at Arsenal is gathering momentum, with the club close to offloading 11 player who did not travel on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, reports The Sun.
First-team regulars Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe, Pablo Mari, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson are among those surplus to requirements.
Edu hints at more Arsenal signings
Arsenal technical director Edu has said there is ‘still a lot to do’ for the club in the transfer market.
The Gunners signed Porto’s Fabio Vieira before landing Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and this week Oleksandr Zinchenko became Mikel Arteta’s latest big-name addition.
Edu said: “There’s still a lot to do, we are in the middle of the transfer window and things can happen.
“We are prepared for every single situation, opportunities maybe can happen.”
Arsenal sign Zinchenko from Man City in £32m deal

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in a £32m deal.
The Gunners have paid £30m up front with £2m in add-ons with the Ukraine international signing a long-term contract at The Emirates.
The 25-year-old, who was coached by Mikel Arteta during the Arsenal manager’s spell as assistant to Man City boss Pep Guardiola, can cover a variety of positions, including left-back and central midfield.
It is understood Arteta is excited about the prospect at working with Zinchenko again and values his versatility as a player.
Arteta: New Saka deal ‘a matter of time’
Mikel Arteta has hinted Bukayo Saka is close to agreeing a new deal at Arsenal.
After the England winger scored in their 2-0 win over Everton in pre-season, Arteta was asked about keeping Saka beyond his current contract which expires in 2024.
Arteta said: “We will try and we both have the same intention and it’s a matter of time.”

Arteta: We have a big squad, things must happen
Zinchenko is Arsenal’s fifth recruit of the summer after signing Gabriel Jesus (£45m), Fabio Vieira (£34m), Matt Turner (£7.5m) and Marquinhos (£3m), while Alexandre Lacazette remains the only first-team departure.
Speaking after a 3-1 win over Orlando City during the Gunners’ pre-season tour in the USA, Arteta said: “We have a large squad. We have to make some decisions on the players that we’re not going to be using consistently and be fair and straight with them.
“That’s a process that is going to start very soon as well. We have to, and now we have to make things happen.”
